Café Britt Decaffeinated is carefully dark roasted for a delicate, clean taste hinting of honey and clove. An aroma of the seeds and dry leaves evokes a serene autumn afternoon. Its complexity intensifies as it cools, for a finish tinged with nostalgia.

Café Britt sends the highest quality beans to Europe to be decaffeinated using the indirect water process . In this process, water is mixed with steamed beans to draw out their caffeine. The caffeinated water is then separated from the beans and decaffeinating agent is added to the water to remove the caffeine. Later, the decaffeinated water is reintroduced to the beans to restore any flavor which may have been extracted during the decaffeination process.

Dark roasted, Café Britt organic is harvested from plantations that use 100% organic materials to improve and fertilize the soil. In this way, soil quality is ensured, and ground water protected. The coffee bushes flourish under the shady embrace of native tree species, which increases the plantation's biodiversity by attracting migrating birds and other animals. This makes for long-term sustainability of the region's agro-ecosystem.

Café Britt has been cultivating and processing certified organic coffee since 1991. We have an active education program in organic and sustainable agriculture and work closely with the farmers who are our suppliers.

We practice fair trade . Café Britt pays above-market prices to growers who consistently produce outstanding crops. "Fair- commerce” or "social" certifications were conceived for roasters based abroad, far-removed from the cultural and national identity that coffee has produced in countries like Costa Rica and Peru. We believe our business model is our best social certification. We buy and roast coffee right here where it's produced . We talk to the farmers. We choose them. We know their farms and their families. They stay with us because we're responsible. And we remain committed to them because our success depends on their success.

As a country-of-origin roaster, we believe that producing countries are more than raw material suppliers to intermediaries in other countries, we believe that these developing countries can export the finished product with all its value added in the country of origin. A new business model is brewing at Café Britt…allowing the producing countries and their communities to keep a higher share of the benefits.
